Disco 2 cuts out in the rain

    Hi

my Td5 Disco does not like heavy rain. After about 20 minutes of driving in heavy rainfall it will cut out and not restart. If I leave it for a few hours it then kicks back into life as if nothing had happened.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers

how good is the contact on the battery terminals? Are the thingies nice and snug fit or are they able to be just tapped off? Is the battery properly affixed with that cross rail thing sitting properly

Not sure actually, I'll check them and get back to you.

Can water on these be the problem?

Check the wiring and plug around the Crank Position Sensor.

Do you get any warning lamps?

    Cheers

    Hi Strangy

I did change the CPS quite recently but it made no difference.

There are no warning lamps, it just dies and wont restart for a few hours.

    Cheers

    Must be poor joint somewhere.

When it's running try a fine spay with hose around the CPS. Earth points etc. one at a time. That should narrow it down for starters.
