Could be residual oil, give it another go or two then replace it![]()
Hi guys
I have read many posts about oil in the injector loom but I'm not having any of the starting or misfiring issues. The engine feels a little rough at about 95-100km/h but that's about it. I have had the loom replaced about 60k ago but have since found oil at the ECU. I have cleaned this twice but it has returned.
Do I need to replace the loom or is it purely residual oil?
Thanks

I first replaced mine at the 70000km mark and it took some time for the residual to completely go.
If you mean 60kms ago ... then a few more cleans and you should be right ... but if you mean 60000kms then I reckon you could be due for another replacement.
Thanks guys. It was replaced 60000 km ago. The mechanic that did it uses britparts but I don't know if this was the brand of loom. Looks like ill buy genuine or oem this time.
the original ones leak too--
and will continue until you physically stop it,,

What are people's opinions of the MR automotive looms. I have heard that they seal them to stop the oil problem. Do they work or shall I just regularity change an OEM loom.
Cheers
The late Ray of Romsey Land Rover Centre wouldn't sell me a loom and sugested I seal it up
I removed the loom and cleaned it.
Undid all the litle plastic clips in the plugs.
Refitted the loom to the injectors and plug.
Filled the plugs with sensor safe high temp salastic(red).
Refitted the clips so the salastic pushes out.
Clean the excess salatic off in such a way the oil can't sit/pool on the plugs.
Do the same at the round plug, I left the salastic as a dome here.
Allow to dry fully(up to 48 hour cure time) before starting.
No problims to date and guessing over two years since it was done.
