    Replacement key fob needed

I need a replacement key fob after my fob got wet and started shorting out and locking/unlocking the car randomly. I still have the fob with the original key but need a new chip- I have found some on ebay but they advertise as being only for UK/Europe, with 433mHz frequency... I have a 2003 D2a, will one of these work? I know it has to be programmed by a dealer.

433MHz will be fine for a 2003 D2. If you know anyone with a Nanocom they will be able to program it for you. Alternatively any independent specialist will be able to program it. You don't have to go to a Land rover dealer.

But before you buy a new fob, try drying your old one properly first. Shorting sounds like there is still some moisture in there.

Can a nanocom program without the full barcode? I know on my hawkeye I had to have someone at land rover look up the full code from the short code inside the plip.

Yes you can. You need to open the fob case, remove the circuit board and on the back there is a 6 figure alphanumeric code. This is what you use for the programming the key with the nanocom. There is a video on you tube that shows how to do it.

I'd check with the seller that it was a 433 MHz fob before bidding. From the early date on the sticker it could be a 315Mhz one.

    Spot on Steve...I never noticed that Doh!!!....more than likely it's a 315mhz....

I recently bought a new fob from the UK...the seller very kindly scanned it and read it around 400mhz so I new it was good for my 2001 D2.
Here is a link to a thread I started last year when I needed a VIN check done to determine what mhz I needed....

PM Fluids (Kev) on here, he will do a vin check on microcat if you ask nicely...

Lot of useful info here. I will hijack it a little...I Have an 02 complianced D2 and it never liked Amcal chemists...that used to kill off the signal from the key. Opening with the key in the door then turned the alarm on...so back to LR out of warranty and insisted they change frequencies, because a former dealer I know told me the earlier ones (late D1) never had issues. To my surprise they yielded and replaced the keys and receiver with a lower frequency jobbie. Trouble is I cant recall what frequency it was changed to. Any clues on the best way.

    Cheers
