Starting - Intermittent No Start V8
Hello,
Seeking advice re intermittent problem with starting - seems to be lack of fuel, although tank at least half full.
Not a battery problem, engine turns over strongly.
Started OK mid morning, drove to Market. After completing shopping, coffee etc came back to car. Would not start. Checked all fuses, fusible links - all OK. Checked & reset inertia switch - all OK. Stilll no start, but turning over strongly.
Removed and replaced ECU & Fuel pump fuses. Engine started, ran for a few minutes and would not restart. Arranged for vehicle to be towed home. On arrival at home, tried starting. Started OK, drove into driveway & parked. Ran OK, up & down rev range. Shut it down
Any thoughts - possible filter blockage?

Try swapping out the fuel pump relay with another one with the same terminal layout. I've seen a few of the yellow relays fail.

Do you have spark, when it won't start? If not, my guess is crankshaft position sensor.

Get the codes read...bet it's a CAS issue.
Mine did the same thing...Mat from Karratha C&B read the codes for me...and CAS...replaced it, no more issues.
BTW, a strong crank doesn't mean it should start. I also found that with a low battery charge state will crank OK but there's not enough left for every thing else. Try a jump start next time and see how you go...

Crank sensor usually doesn't set a code. (But there are always exceptions... )

Cam sensor will code, crank I've never seen. But if it's out of alignment it can cause timing issues.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Problem now sems to have cleared itself. Engine now starting & running OK. It appears that there has been a glitch in the ECU, possibly related to an earlier low (12.5) battery voltage.
