Where I live V8 breaks mouts the most.... Because that's all we have. I've had to replace them in my 03. Gasoline is still pretty cheap (relative to most of the rest of the world) over here, so most of us don't drive our rover V8 wide open because we are afraid it will blow up. Head gaskets, cracked block, etc.

Off the the thread topic, but the cheapest fuel in the Americas can be found here, my old stomping grounds!

I didn't go and live there for the fuel, it was more of making a living, I like to eat! But I stayed for the reasons seen at the end of the clip. Venezuela has more beautiful women than anywhere else in the western world!
    Well maybe Argentina comes close!
    Enjoy

    well the first part was
LH Engine mount now replaced, easy job, well for my mechanic father who just arrived from the UK!

According to my dad and the LR Specialist where be got the part. It's quite common for the LH mount to go on a V8. Main reason is the engine twisting to the right under acceleration. Pulls on the left and pushes down on the right which makes sense. They tear through slow over the years until it's visible.

    Easy job thankfully

I am just about to do this same job now and I have a couple of questions for you professors:

    1. I just undid the upper nut on the LH mount and it was extremely awkward. I just barely got a spanner in there and turned 1/8th of a turn at a time. It took forever. Is there a better way or a better tool?

    2. I am only replacing the LH mount. Do I have to undo anything on the RH mount before I raise the engine?

    Ratchet spanner?

If you are using a ring spanner, ratchet spanners are the Rolls Royce (great idea)

Thanks Andrew. I actually did get an 18mm ratchet spanner which made it somewhat quicker. I also purchased a deep 18mm socket and a 450mm breaker bar to undo the bottom nut. I undid both nuts on the mount I was replacing and the bottom nut on the other mount before I raised the engine. The old mount was easy to remove since it fell into two pieces. The new mount was a bastard to get in though. I jacked up the engine to the max height of my jack, which was just a bit too low. I ended up folding the heat shroud back fully and then hammering in the new mount from above using a long piece of timber.

An old thread, I know, but it has the right title.
My drivers side mount has let go.
RAVE's description mentions removing the underbelly panel, steering uni and dampener. Is this really necessary? I didn't know it was supposed to have a panel under there, mine hasn't.
    Cheers all.

By the time I need to replace them again, I'll have forgotten what to do.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

The motor ran very well considering 3 out of the 4 mounts were shot. All fixed now thanks to Roverlord.

Now that gives you more time to fix all the other things.
