Pry bar to lever the passengers window frame out far enough to insert a straightened coat hanger (held with pliers) to press the dash button to unlock the doors. Keys were in ignition, at pos I and spare key was in camera bag on the back floor

If you lock the car using the key remote the dash button to unlock no longer works ... Then you're in trouble.

Carry a spare flat standard shaped key cut to suite the car, along with the EKA, and strap it up under the car somewhere.

Is that to say a flat, uncut key can be used to access with the EKA?

No, a flat key, (no remote plip) that's been cut to match your normal remote key. Then strap it up high under the vehicle somewhere, in a protective covering with the EKA included .... And maybe even a brief instruction on the EKA procedure.

Lock the doors with the dash button with drivers door open and it won't lock the drivers door and if you close it you will be able to open the door...

Lock the door with the dash button with the passenger door open, drivers door closed, and it will lock all doors. When you close said passenger door you end up calling wife to drive 40 mins out of her way to bring the spare key to open said doors again...

Don't ak me how I know

Well, you never cease learning about your D2 ... This is correct. I just went and tried it, full of sceptisism , and it's true. The drivers door doesn't lock if it's open when the dash lock button is operated ... Passengers door does when open ... As I discovered.

    Thanks for the tip !

I am so worried about locking key in mine that if the key is in there I always leave the door open or wind a window down as I just dont trust it. At the moment I only have 1 key and until I can afford a second I am very cautious/worried.
