Thread: Calibrating the SLS height?

Yes, you can adjust this using the Nanocom.
There are a couple of ways to do it.
1/ Use calibration blocks. Ok,if you have std suspension, but need to make bigger if you have lift blocks.
2/ Use a jack under the towbar and set the rave spec height between bumpstops + any lift and save the settings in the BCU.

There are other methods but not as accurate and possible probs

I used the height measurements from the thread at http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...de-height.html to create some custom height blocks (80mm according to my mathematics).

I then plugged in the Nanocom went to Discovery 2 / TD5 / SLABS / Settings and then page 3 and set the Target Height to Left - 114mm and Right - 103mm and this was perfect to the height blocks and also spot on the lower range of the hub centre to guard measurement.

On a short test drive, I noticed the handling of the vehicle to be nicer now that the rear is balanced left and right and has been lowered 35mm - the rear is lower than the front (it's meant to be according to the thread the rear should be 27mm lower on the centre of hub to guard measurement), which I personally prefer as makes reversing with the boat easier to see out and I like the handling characteristics. Also I can now use the height extension feature for the SLS when off road to lift it up.

FYI I'm pretty sure the stock height for SLS is 60mm (+/- a couple of mm) bumpstop clearance in the "on" road mode and 100 mm clearance "off road/extended" mode.

If you have set your bump stops to 80mm in the "on" road mode you risk over extending the SLS bags when you select off road/ extended height. i.e you will go to 120mm bumpstop clearance.

If you want the xtra clearance get a set of 40mm lift blocks that bolt straight onto the axle. You still use 60/100mm bumpstop settings.

The standard height is 61.5mm according to Rave for the on-road height. I didn't both measuring the off-road height as I don't overly care about it, so long as it's right for road use.

My suspension is far from standard. 80mm is the correct setting in my case with my modifications and extended bump stops:

Standard gap is 61.5mm + 4" (101.6mm) = gap of 163.1mm
minus the extended bump stop of 33mm [orange urethane bump stops imported from the UK] = 130.1mm
minus the bump stop spacer of 2" (50.8mm) [these are part of the Les Richmond Automotive 2" spacer kit] = 79.3mm (which I have rounded off to 80mm)
