Hey everyone,
I'm about to get hold of a UHF radio, but not sure how and where to mount it in my 2004 D2.
Where have members mounted their UHF radios.
Perhaps if you can provide pics and short description of how it was installed.
Thanks everyone
Matt.

Unit under glove box inside panel (no signs externally) with all in one microphone and controls attached to clip on ciggy tray...Icom - nice unit with good readout screen and no need to worry about where to mount base around dash etc.
Cheers
I decided to fit a gme where all the buttons and functions are in the handpiece which means the unit is under the drivers dash and all you see is the hand piece which I mounted to the coin tray that way if you ever take it out you can buy another coin tray and not leave holes anywhere
I have mine under the drivers seat were the CD stacker was originally. THere is a flap that opens which allows access to the controls. However, I have fitted a unit with controls on the handset, so I do not need to access it. The cable for the microphones runs between the drivers seat and the centre console and I have mounted the microphone on the side of the centre console.
I mounted mine in a dash pod I bought from Dept of Interior. I gave them the ufh unit and they mounted in front. My uhf is GME with inbuilt speaker on front. I put the microphone clip to the left of the uhf and a voltmeter and battery selector switch to the right.
You can see on their website: Car Consoles & 4WD Storage Drawers - Department of the Interior - overhead consoles, roof consoles, custom built consoles, 4WD interiors, storage systems, vehicle consoles, radio console, dashboard pod, four wheel drive.. I have the one with the recess on top. I can post a photo if you wish.
here is where i fitted mine, power source directly behind clip off panel, i assume it was for sunroof
That top pic in the link is the same one I've got. Wow 330 bucks, I got mine at swap meet for 20 bucks
UHF is in a dashpod and old school cb (27meg) is up in front of interior light. UHF sound run through GME speaker that was already there mounted in pod and wired from battery, coax up through dash hidden but for some reason I was not able to get the wires up same way so they're run along bottom of windscreen and in the back of pod. I will eventually change this as I'm not happy with it.
CB wires/coax run (from battery) up the LH pillar cover, then tucked into roof lining to the cavity under removable panel on overhead and out into back of unit.
Good thing is while I was mucking around with it all I mounted 2 x heavy duty 12v sockets so plenty of power outlets.

Hi Everyone that has posted, thanks for the information that you have supplied, it gives me food for thought. I am thinking that mounting the UHF to the roof as shown in the above pics would be the way to go
if anyone else has any other suggestions I would still like to hear from you.
I will also post pics here of what I have done once I have done it.
Again thanks for the suggestions.
Mine is up on roof as well. I ran separate power though. This will give the best performance with least chance of interference.
