EGR ,Loss of power
Hi all I have a 04 td5 eu3
I fitted the egr removal kit on the week end and to my suprise after 2 seperate days of driving Im convinced the car feels sluggish, the only thing I did was the egr removal kit and that includes complete removal of the unit and the cooler ect, also blocking both vacume lines, while I was there I cleaned the air flow meter with throttle body cleaner , and thats it. any one had any similar power loss, it just seems to lack the little bit of boot or accelaration and am convinced its not in my head

contact cleaner
I just replaced my fuel pump on my Td5 and as I was working through possible scenarios I checked for oil in the ecu and sprayed the red plug with Contact cleaner and also the MAF. Same thing all good with the new fuel pump in however convinced there is a lack of acceleration. I bet its the contact cleaner on the MAF, I am going to get a new one to check it out.

Odds are cleaning the Maf has killed it.

If you have little difference between MAF connected and disconnected would this indicate a dead MAF?

thanks for the thoughts i think it will be some thing self inflicted. i will look into the airflow sensor

If the MAF is disconnected and there is no difference I would assume it is faulty, otherwise its just another airflow blocker!
However I dont think that is absolute.

got home this arvo and disconnected the airflow sensor and went for a drive, It goes better than it ever has. so thanks for the ideas, it did point to the sensor as it was something i touched although on a recent trip up north i still felt it didnt pull on the same hills like it normally does so maybe has been worse over time.
cheers

any one know if its ok to just leave the meter disconnected for a while until a new meter arrives, I assume it goes into a default setting

I was also convinced disconnecting the egr reduced performance. The engine even feels more harsh when accelerating. I thought I was imagining at the time?

Me 3, I am convinced the EGR removal has made my 2003 D2a noisier and it seems down a little in performance. Rave says the EGR helps reduce combustion noise, I agree.
