    Acceptable Km's on Disco 2

    Hi all

New to the Land Rover Forum and looking to purchase 1st Discovery to enable some Victorian High Country touring.

How many Km's can you get out of a well looked after TD5 diesel.

    Cheers

Sold mine with a measley 295K Kms from memory.
    Still going strong.
It really does depend on how it was serviced tho'.

    Good luck.

brought mine with 295k on it, engine runs well, had a noisy throw out bearing which only started a week after i purchased it, did a few mods, had the intercooler pipe suck in on me and scared me abit, but runs very well, put in a new rear main seal while i did the clutch, when buyinng allow a grand or two to spend on it, also fixed a few oil leaks on mine, now she is all good and i can start buying fun things for it. engine runs like a dream!

Sounds good. What kms do you expect to get out of it before needing to do a rebuild - 500,000 kms????

Some say that if been well serviced/cared for, then thats achievable. Generally autos boxes let you down first

    Mileage

My 2002 TD5 auto has done 250,000 and the motor seems to me to run very well. Leaks more oil than it burns (I have put in less than 500ml in 5000 km) and returns 10 km per litre (out of town).

500K Km and Id be doing a check over, Id expect to replace all the seals, the head gasket and the cooling system plugs at this point. I'd probably do the bearings and rings but that would be more of an "Im already here, may as well" deal.
