have you checked the web site? Fuel Pumps > Fuel Delivery System > Electric Fuel Pump
Hi
It looks as if I need to replace the xyz switch on my D2 TD5 auto. The genuine units are really expensive and I've found an aftermarket unit made by Airtex for around $300 delivered
Has anyone used this brand of xyz switch, is this a reputable company etc. or is it a case of just buy a genuine unit and seal it up really well.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Not heard of them - I've just ordered a switch from the UK for $450 delivered, not sure which brand it is but I'll take anything that will get the car working again!
I know Bosch made some, the one I just took off had a Bosch part numer on it.
For $300 I don't think you can go wrong, you can have 3-4 of those for the price of a genuine one from the dealer.
For info Airtex is a famous fuel pump maker here in the States.
I went into their US website and saw nothing about LR XYZ switches!
Whatever that might mean!
On the whole they don't make a bad pump, some Chrysler cars don't like them when they have to push gauge signals through their Becm.
I would use/try one out because that genuine unit is a spendy beast!

I found it under switches!ShowMeTheParts - Automotive Aftermarket Electronic Catalog
It appears there is a few different 1's and brands on there. Not sure about the quality , maybe you see a brand you know on there.

Guys for info.
Yes I found the appropriate Airtex website, they are located in Fond Du Lac in Wisconsin.
I gave them a call and spoke to their tech division, ended up chatting to a really helpful bloke called Ron.
Those XYZ switches which are called safety switches by some here in the trade are actually the real McCoy. Since Airtex only sells a small amount of these switches, they buy them DIRECTLY from the same suppliers as do LR.
So in short what you buy from Airtex, so you buy the same from the LR parts Div--only you pay more for the LR Green Oval on the box! That's capitalism I suppose!
He pulled a few examples D2 '99 to 2003 is their number 1S65624.
For P38's there is a vin split up to WA387941 use 1S6522, after that its 1S6526.
I use more P38's in my shop because the locals tend to turn up the radio to mask the sound of the prop falling off!
Of course it takes the XYZ switch with it when it goes bang!![]()
So I would certainly buy the Airtex one 'cos its the same and save the rest of your Auzzie $'s for beer!--And now you are talking!
Cheers & hope that is helpful

Hi td5truck
That's an extremely good price. Could you give us contact details for where you purchased it from?
I suspect I'll need a new one on a couple of years time.
Cheers
Steve
The part number for the Discovery xyz switch listed above has a typo.
Correct part number is: Airtex 1S6524
