    Winch lever hits arb bar

uploadfromtaptalk1352894578891.jpg look at the pic side on, it uploaded it 90 deg out.

Any one got a better solution to shortening the handle? Ive rotated the whole rhs of the winch to get the handle in the best posi to engage/disengage but other than have the handle underneath, this is the best spot. Winch is similar to the Aldi one.

Warn xd9000 winch handle fits the bar no problems. Would a lever from the warn fit your winch? I don't know if it would be any better....the actual lever location might be different too...as in the housing may be larger etc. just a thought.

This photo is from behind the bar, you can see the spotlight bracket in the top I think. I had the bar off at the time. The lever just clears the bar as you can see.

Wonder if you can take the handle out and reposition it?

Could you grind a bit of that lip off the bar so it clears the handle or grind the top of the ball on the handle flat.

As said the my Warn winch clears ok but can't see it at the moment to see it's position.

On the warn winches you can undo the ends and rotate the end of the housing to reposition the lever, unfortunately from your photo it does not look like you are able to do that on that winch.

I have actually done that, any further forward and it will foul on the fron of the bar.

The original position of the handle was way down the back requiring you to climb under the bar to change.

I could grind or bash the bar to provide clearance, but its a bugger of a spot to get a grinder or hammer for that matter, into. Given my severe lack of time before my high country trip tomorrow, cutting down the handle looks like the best option so far.

Or for this trip only see if you can remove the handle and leave the winch locked on.
Conect the power wire if use of the winch is required.
Just means it'll take longer as you will have to electricly spool out.
    Cheers, Kyle

All good fellas. Trimmed a little of the back and sides of the handle and it worked a treat. Handle was very easy to remove.
