Pull down the headlining at the drivers side B pillar, the frequency will printed on the receiver box....
I just bought a 1999 D2 that only came with one key. I have read all the previous threads on here on the same topic.
I contacted a UK eBay dealer who said he has both the 315 and 433 MHz versions in stock and that he needs my chassis number to tell me which version I need. I emailed him my VIN and he then emailed me back saying that my VIN gave him an inconclusive result when he searched it.
So how do I work out which one I need? Will any Land Rover dealer have access to a database with that info? I am in Rockhampton QLD and the closest LR dealer is in Gladstone which is a fair drive.

Any land rover dealer can tell you. Just call them and provide the VIN.
If you want you can PM the VIN to me and I can check it tonight for you. (I have Micorcat). Calling the dealer will be quicker as I won't be home until about 7 pm.
I'm guessing it would be a 315 MHz.

Andrew, some of the early D2's had issues with the key fobs...It may have been replaced with a later 413mhz one...
Trippy, see if you can get a locksmith to read the frequency of your key fob, then order to suit from the UK...
Have a read through this thread...

Well, if the Microcat says that it is 433MHz I can probably be pretty sure that it still is a 433MHz right? That would save me pulling things apart. PM incoming Andrew. Thank you very much for checking for me.
Yours is MY99 so will be a 315mhz unless it has changed by a dealer due to interference issues....VIN check will state this....There are only two ways to confirm your frequency...
1. Have your existing key fob frequency scanned.
2. Pull the headlining and read what is on the receiver.

Andrew just checked (thank you!) and there is no reference to the key frequency in Microcat. I had a look in the workshop manual and removing the headlining seems quite involved. Has anyone done it before?
I will contact a locksmith and see if they can detect my key's frequency.
Trippy
Try the locksmith first. If no luck, removing the headlining will provide you the answer (agree, fair bit of work this way).

If you have any technicians near you that have a scanner or Spectrum analyzer there could see what Freq is transmitted when the button is pressed. Sorry I'm at the wrong end of the country.
Cheers, David.
