On both our D2 autos they failed at the crimp.. where the pipe joins to the hose. One blew off ,, the other was loose and was changed before it was too late.

Kev - if all else fails, talk to the owner Cameron at Auto Trans R Us in Balcatta. I know he organised some welding as part of my mod with the comment "that will make sure you never lose your ATF due to the dreaded LR separation". I didn't follow up exactly what he did - was just grateful he knew of the issue and had the foresight to do some preventative maintenance.

The advice I got from Peter Davis (Rovering Mechanic) was that in 13 years he has never seen a failure except in the left (top) line and he does half a dozen or so of these every year in Sydney alone. They generally give way where the copper line & the flexible hose join.
    Cheers,
    Alex
