On your original question, if you were turning at the time with a fair amount of lock, its a sign you may have a dodgy ABS sensor on either of the front wheels.
Will usually happen first thing when cold as it did with me a number of times until you constantly get ABS faults even in a straight line.
Front sensor cables deteriorate from flex from normal steering.
Not really much you can do to test them other than unplug them, stick a multimeter in the plug and bend the cable around the steering knuckle until you get a continuity break.
I found a dud cable on one side, put in a new sensor and was fine for about 3-4 weeks then Amigos came back. Did the other side and all good for a few months now.

Last time I went out to ophir, being the arrogant teenager I am, tried a track marked dry weather only about a day after heavy rains
Slight incline, wouldn't have been doing more than 20km/h, heading towards a sloped choke point (trees either side of the tracks) and a dab at the brakes and had zero brakes and minimal steering at best.
    lots of fun
And yes, I'm aware I shouldn't have been there in the wet, at least without muddies
Last weekend, I was picking up some brick paver's in the trailer.

These paver's just happened to be at the top of a hill. The road leading to said top, is dirt. Not just dirt, but loose dirt. REALLY loose dirt. Oh, and it is fairly steep too.

So, on the way down, with a full (but still legal ) trailer of paver's, I put it into low, pushed the HDC button, and just pointed the car where it should go.

All went very well, and the guy that was with me was most impressed.

And yes, I assured him the grinding, groaning, crunching sound from under the bonnet was normal.

I might give it a try next time then.
It was a bit worrying playing mud skating down a steep hill towards lots of trees
Later down the track, I slipped into the drain culverts, that was loads of fun
