Identify td5 exhaust cat
Hi,
I have a pre-facelift 2001 td5 and have read whatever I can find on removing exhaust restrictions. I have the wire mesh flex join not the bellows variety, and from what I've read the catalytic converter is in the straight bit of pipe between the bends. I've also read the earlier td5s did not have a cat at all.
My question is, how does a person determine whether you have a cat or not? Can you disconnect the dump pipe from the centre muffler section and visually inspect without removing the cross member and dragging everything out (I don't know what I'm looking for in any case...)?
Assuming I don't have a cat, then my understanding is the wire mesh flex join is the better of the two options and there is no need for me to do anything with the drop pipe at all.
Thanks!

If you do have a CAT fitted (unlikely before 2002) it is part of the front down-pipe and sits beside the transmission.
Attached Photo is of one off a 2002 Disco TD5 EU3 Spec.

Excellent, thanks for the photo Gary. It's pretty obvious at this point I don't have a cat!
