    Auto 'Mode' button

    Hi,
Is there a way for the mode button to default to on all the time?

I like the setting for both around town and when using cruise control on the highway, but I'm getting fed up of turning it on every time I start the engine.

Try shorting out the switch. It's not a latching switch, but it probably shouldn't do any harm.
Also, it will cause issues in low range as you will be running in manual mode all the time.
Perhaps you can replace the switch with a latching one to overcome this.
A bit of experimentaion needed, methinks.

Manual setting is ONLY enabled in Low Range! Sorry but this smells of changing stuff for the sake of it!!

If you have the D2 in sport mode and engage low range it will automatically change to manual.

In manual it will stay in the gear that you select. For example, select 2nd and drive away the D2 will take off and hold in 2nd gear. Useful if you are in a position with limited traction as the 2nd gear start reduces the chance of wheel spin - that is the theory.

I suggest you get hold of a manual and have a read, there really is a lot of cool stuff the D2 can do straight out of the showroom.

For the "real blokes" that don't (or won't) read manuals:

This is taken from a US Video Handbook sent to new Disco 2 owners.
Ignore the stuff regarding the shift interlock, as it's US and Japan only.

I'm yet to find the off-roading video mentioned, I wonder if it was ever produced?

Maybe. But if he wants to experiment a little, what's the harm.

I am loving that guy's killer mo. (a little off topic, but hey)

anyway, i'd be interested in a similar thing. I wonder if you could tweak the ECU to always have it in manual mode (i like it too, btw)
