    Blown Head Gasket??

G'day all, been here awhile but this is my 1st post, I think I've blown a HG in my TD5, From what I could find it has all the symptoms but I'd just like comformation before I pull it apart to fix it.

The Symtoms I have are: Runs hot and has heaps of pressure in the expansion tank always blow steam when I shut it down, oil in the Top radiator hose and around the thermostat (bottom hose is clean and minimal in the expansion tank).

This all started after I blew the top Rad hose.

I don't have an engine saver or good temp gauge so I don't know how hot it's been, got to about 3/4 on the gauge.

The head was replace about 18 months ago and I hope it still ok.

So am I right in thinking the heads gotta come off??

    Thanks in advance Mico

mico, yeap head has to come off again just be happy its td5 not two banked v8. More work! I know... ive had the pressure build up as well and oil in the radiator cap. Once you take of the head watch for dark marks on gasket between water jacket and cylinders. Have you overheated it recently? Maybe tighten/check headbolts first? cheers

Yeah it's been playing up fpr about 2 weeks I knew deep down it was a head issue but I was hoping there was another answer (and I've got a quad cam Lexus V8 in a Hilux and am dreading the day I need to pull the heads of that thing)

    thanks for the quick reply
