Ken mine has done the same thing a couple of times. I have found if you remove key and lock and unlock vehicle with key pad it resets. I suspect it is related to the immobiliser but have not investigated yet as it hasn't really presented as a problem.

    Ken,

Check that the wiring loom multi-plug has not disconnected from the Injector loom plug (front drivers side of the cam shaft cover). If that is not fully connected, there will be no glow plug indicator light and the engine will turn over but not fire.

You don't need glow plugs operating to start a Td5 unless its pretty cold. I think there is a more sinister reason behind it all.

Thanks guys, it would seem that the prev suggestions regarding immobiliser could be correct, it did it a couple of times at the shop with a beep of the horn and no start, upon investigation i found the rear tailgate door was not latched shut, it wqs closed but not far enuf to click shut, i pushed it approx 10 mm and i heard it lock, no problem since, i think this could have been an issue also with on prev occasions horn beeping with no start, have now cleaned lock which was filled with dust and has been good since, worth noting for other members

Good news Ken. That would fit with the times mine has done it as well. I'll have to check it out.
