Hi all,
Is it just me or does everyone find the security type nut set up on the D2 wheels a pain in the but, one of my wearing to the point of not being useable, should I just buy new ones or do I just buy a standard nuts and forget about security nuts all together, whats the go.

Most I see just have the security nut without the cover (ie exposed). Doesn't look as smooth, but it's a good "too hard too pinch" visual to most would be thieves (unless they have the set of special nut sockets).
You can buy more standard nuts quite easily if wheel stealing is not an issue for you. I haven't heard of any keyed security lock nuts to fit LRs, but?
The person who can produce a long lasting chrome nut cover remover to replace the plastic nonsense will make a million

Do yourself a favour and throw them in the bin. They are as handy as an ash tray on a motorbike. Got rid of mine long ago. Roughly $12 for new ones. Wreckers should be cheaper.

Yep sounds like the best option, give'em the flick and buy standard nuts
Yep, chuck them.
You could almost put money down that the time they will strip, will be when you are in the most difficult place to do anything about it...
I just bought 4 new standard nuts, and left the lock nut on the spare.
I'm another advocate of dumping them and running standard nuts, did it years ago.
I was going to say, "who would want to steal a Disco wheel" but then thought, maybe the same mongrel who nicks panel rubbing strips... http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ml#post1814366

I did the same thing about a year ago. I wouldn't think that D2 wheel are a high target for thieves over here (UK may be different).
I was at TRS a few weeks ago, standard wheel nuts lying around all over the place, didn't ask how much they were, but they would have hundreds of them.

Nova
Throw them before they seize, and they will. I removed all of mine so I would not get caught out in the bush. Lucky I did as the would not come off. I had to hammer a socket over them to remove.
Cheers, David.

Where can you buy them for this price? Rimmer Bros have them for $8 each but shipping might be a killer.
