Looks Good
I had an issue with the rubber bumpers I leaned on the top of one when attempting to get up after connecting the winch, I am circumferential challenged but surely not that much. The rubber parted from the studs. I wondered if the boy had over tightened the stud/nuts. I epoxy glued the studs back in and the next time the bar came off (rad replacement) I refitted it. This last weekend a lump of sandstone leaped out while Offtrack so I have need to order a replacement crash can or maybe two Opps
I have been a bit confused on the reasoning they are only designed for the D2a???
As far as I am aware it should bolt straight on to a D2, the chassis rails are identical, the mounting points are identical, the two vehicles are basically the same vehicle apart from cosmetic changes, they both have all the same safety equipment from the manufacturer...
Because the front bumper/grille/lights are different it won't bolt straight on. From what I have been told the grille will foul the bar (and require trimming) and there will be a gap under the headlights when fitting to a D2. Both of these i can live with as they are a sweet bar, the $$ of the sahara bar is what keeps me from putting one on.
Cheers,
Nova
Giving the bum a facelift too.
I had a custom rear bar made many moons ago.
The rear guards were cut to accommodate abetter approach angle on the sides, and also the exhaust cut short.
Here's a few old pics of the rear bar.
Unfortunately, as a result, the LH rear corner underneath, was coated in years of carbon, and rusted underneath. There was also a bit of rust on the RH rear corner.
I removed the rear bar, had a bit of welding done and am getting it cleaned and repainted, it should be back on by next week.
I also fitted a Redback exhaust and had the end pipe changed to fit better & direct exhaust away from the rear of the vehicle, instead into the rear of it.
The rear bar has LED autolamps and a worklight in it. I'm replacing them and also replacing the worklight with a Wurton 4 inch LED, which fits perfectly in the hole. The things are awesome. They'll light up a tennis court, handy for setting up camp, or blasting tailgaters
They draw stuff all power too.
One negative with having a custom bar, is if gets totalled, I'm in a jam, cause the clown making em went out of business.
However, i've had 3 cars run into the back of it, over the years, (2 totalled), and she's still going strong. It's had plenty of taps in the scrub too.
Forgot to add this pic.
This is how she looks at the minute, minus bar.
