help in replacing front ABS sensors

    Hi

In process of replacing front ABS sensors on MY2000 D2 and seem to be unable to loosen the axle nut, to remove the hub.
Have broken my 1/2 power bar now, ok to use heat? or is there some 'trick" to removing this. I dont have access to any air tools etc.
    Looked quite a simple job!!!

    Cheers

Just undo the 4 bolts on the hub and it will easily move enough to clear the sensor.

Use this link. It has other issues in it, but you can see the bolts strangy is referring to.

    cheers

Do not use heat. You would have unstaked the driveshaft nut from the washer.. . The nut is torqued up to 490 NM, or 362 lbf ft. [ Do not re-use the nut.] Haynes owners workshop manual says, it may be necessary to prise out the centre of the roadwheel, refit the wheel, lower it to the ground, insert the socket, undo the nut. A long length of strong pipe helps. Bob [ Haynes workshop manual, coupled with the RAVE DVD, is invaluable]
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

After breaking some tools and bars I borrowed an electric rattle gun from a friend who ran a few dozers and excavators. the 3/4 rattle gun did it ridiculously easy.

If Strangys method works then this would be the easiest way.

Excuse me if I'm missing something here...

When I removed and refitted my front ABS sensor on my '00 model, I removed the caliper, carrier and disc, and then had clear access to the sensor to remove and refit. No need to go anywhere near the axle or hub.
