    TD5 Auto Dramas

    G'day everyone ,
Well , i am getting pretty sick of all the issues that i am having with the auto box on my Disco . I know that the xyz switch is faulty and the m and s lights come on every now and then , easy fix but expensive .

Now something new is happening . If i back off the throttle the car rolls like it is in neutral, this has never happened in the past , there was always some engine braking. I have looked on the nanocom and it shows no faults . Have any of you experienced this before and found the problem?

As this is my first auto vehicle i am not sure what is normal. Any help greatly appreciated , i am considering swaping out the Auto box for a Manual.

    G'day Mate.
    Don't Panic!
Sounds like low trans fluid level to me.
Follow the filling guidliens in the owners manual and I expect all will be well.
    Cheers, Dave.

I have had this d2 for about 1 year but in that time I have used it a lot. Towing a boat from perth up through the kimberley then out to arnhemland but have kept the servicing up. Out has done 255k km and had a pretty good service record . No power upgrades (yet) . I was running 32" tyres with standard gearing but have swapped back to standard tyres for around perth. I suppose the auto box or torque converter could be a tired , it also seems really sluggish of the mark these days too. Oh yeah, as it was my first time working on an auto , it was done by the book.

How did you check the level? I know you said you did it by the book but it would be helpful to know exactly how YOU did it. You'd be surprised how often people doing it by the book miss critical bits of information.

From memory, I filled it up, then switch on the motor and keep filling and got a mate to run it through all the gears while I kept pumping. I put the filler plug back in while oil was still running out . I haven't checked the level since but it is very clean and no sign of a leak.
