Mate, thanks for the kind words. I unfortunately don't have enough time to build another set of drawers. Give me some time and I will try to post a plan of the drawers for you.Regards.

    Good job on the drawers.
Even though you are not planning on going bush, I would still give the drawers a good coat of either paint or varnish to seal them. It takes very little moisture to swell MDF. And if you happen to be caught out in the rain and have to open the drawers, it may be enough to start it swelling.

Thanks Crash. Good thinking. That idea goes on my "to do" list.

They look great, I'm just making myself a set at the moment - do you have a picture of how you secured them?

Are they secured to the tie down points in the boot, I'm struggling to see how a turnbuckle could be used without taking up space inside/affecting the drawers.

    G'day Mate,
No I havent secured the drawers down but I envisaged fixing 4 sturdy hooks to the upper outside corners and connecting turnbuckles from the hooks to the tie down points in the cargo bay. Hope this helps.
    Regards.

Thanks, yes that's what I thought - I'm trying to be clever with mine and put in a false floor that I can leave in with just the fridge slide on it, and then add the drawers when needed for longer trips as I do use the 6/7 seats occasionally so I won't always have the sides to attach too.

I was trying to figure out if I could use a hole saw in the false floor so I could access the tie downs and then perhaps use a bar or something?! to secure them.

Not sure how strong it was, but my prior system (made by a neighbour for his D2) had a set of straps running vertically on each corner with "eyelets" at each end allowing the drawers to be fixed with shackles to the LR diedowns and also providing anchor points for any additional equipment to sit on top. Given that most force would logically be upwards, it seemed a pretty fair concept to me.
Unfortunately I have lost the photos, but I did sell the drawers to an aulro or lwowa member from somewhere near Gosnells - fitted into his classic rangie with ease.

So was the base secured separately? I'm struggling to think how I could secure the false floor to the factory tie downs.

I like the idea of the eyelets so you could put stuff on top like duvets/etc. and remove the main drawers - I've got one of those 6 armed bungees to try out.
