If you haven't already done so, plug a Nanocom or similar in and see what fault codes have been logged. This will give an idea where the fault may reside.

Driving back home today at about 100km/h the m&s lights started to flash on my 2003 TD5. It did feel almost like it downshifted just before and the D light went out on the dashboard but it carried on at the same speed and no obvious change in revs.
Stopped, engine off and on again and no probs. happened about half an hour later but not again.
I've just checked manually selecting each gear which is ok and rear windscreen wiper comes on when in reverse too.
I'm going to check my battery bit is this likely of I was driving at the time?
I also have a healthy puddle of water under aircon unit on the floor when stopped.
Does anybody have any pointers or should I put this down to it being a landrover and see if it happens again?!
FYI - have had a read through of http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...-s-lights.html too

Thanks, unfortunately I don't have a nanocom so will have to wait to check that (although my Bluetooth ODBII adapter and droid scan don't report any faults)
There are a few members in Perth with Nanocom's unlocked for the D2.

You should be able to find someone relatively close to you to check the codes.
Do you really know it wasn't in limp mode? "Limp mode" locks the gearbox in the current gear if you are driving when the fault occurs. It won't necessarily have an obvious effect on engine performance.

Have you extended your aircon drains yet?
After extending mine the M&S lights symptom has never returned.

Thanks for the heads up - regarding the aircon drains - looks like that's another for the todo list.
I didn't realise limp mode locked in current gear - my previous car (a merc) went into limp mode at about 120km/hr once and slowed down to about 40km/hr pretty rapidly in the outside lane on the motorway in the UK so just assumed the same would happen!
What suburb do you live in? There may be someone close by with a nanocom.
