Trying to convince the wife to sell the little car and keep the disco!

As the title says, am trying to convince the wife that our 12 year old disco is better than her 1 year old hyundai i30. I have an x-trail for a work car and haven't used the disco much in the past year. I got it out on the weekend and realized how great it is. 197k on the clock, auto (not rebuilt) bigger oil cooler, d2a intercooler etc. Can I expect it to go much further without expensive work? And reliability is always an issue, especially when she'll be using it to ferry the kids around. But safety is too - especially round here in a 4wd with all the roos and wombats (roving speedhumps) about.

My problem is that we can't afford to spend $1k plus a year on the disco for insurance and rego if it's just gonna sit there.

    Anyone else in my boat?

What are the arguments I can use? I've already told her the disco is 'safer' - which is true to a point....

    Keep the disco.
As a school taxi it's got every function you could want.
Lots of room, protection from scary school mums, handy if zombies attack, has the ability to flatten smaller objects so parking isn't an issue.
You could spend a little bit on adding some kid friendly creature comforts if you so desire.
My auto has done 240k and it's original AFAIK and still working beautifully.

Thanks gents. Some good feedback. I'm going to have to put some smaller 29" tyres back on (rather than the current 32"!) due to the fact that she's height challenged but these are the sacrifices one has to make

I've got the idea in her head. Next comes the waiting to see if she'll come around.... Might be waiting a while
