2002 is pre-facelift for all intents and purposes. Eu3 motor only adds a couple of wires to the loom otherwise it is same as 1999-2001. Tail light wiring changed with the facelift, hence Erich's question.

OK have fixed the problem.

it was a problem with the cable going into the socket. Out of frustration, I was moving the cable while the blinker was active, and moving the wire left to right I was able to make the indicator activate.

So cut and splice a part of the cable, and all is good now.

Not sure how this could have happened, just glad that it is all fixed now.
