    bonnett wont open

Been having intermittant trouble with bonnet opening but this morning would not open no matter how much rattling and pushing bonnet, thank goodness a mate turned up and we ended up pushing on bonnet while grabbing the wire with a big pair of pliers and got it to pop, must have been stretched to much, anyone replaced the cable, any tips or things to watch for when reinstalling and if the worst happens and i stuff it how would you get the bonnet up if the release cable doesnt

    Cheers

    1. There's a nylon spacer on the cable outer at the lock end that fails, make a new spacer to take up the slack, I made one out of a scrap of copper tube, split and crimped into place.

    2. You can get at the lock by cutting the pocket protecting the underside of the lock from the grille, I used a sharpened screwdriver and then pushed the lever.

Yep - just replace with a new genuine cable - comes with a new in cabin lever too. Quick and simple job, noting Bee Utey's point 2.

    Some good tips here:

Does anyone know if the series lever bonnet latch is a straight swap for the defender cable type?
