Disco 2 Won't Release CD's
Hi all, our Disco 2 has taken a couple CD's prisoner, I press the release button and I can hear the mechanism working but won't release the stacker. What can I do to get it out? It's got 3 of my AC/DC CD's prisoner (and a Lynrd Skynrd) so any ideas much appreciated.

If it is then the best thing you can do is take the stacker apart and replace the whole system with an after market unit. If you need any help I can get them out for you but the system probably won't work afterwards. I used to fit car stereos at audiocom in albany had a few of those and are not worth repairing once they go.

Thanks Matt for the offer but I'd like to keep the original stacker for now. Is there any way of flicking the little catch that holds the stacker in?

Hello Series3 GT
A piece of wire with a small hook bent into the end.......Slide open the access door, hook the cartridge, pull gently and push eject button at the same time and the cartridge should come out.
This method has worked successfully for the past 3 years for me and continues to work well. I mean how often do you need to change the CD's anyway??
Cheers,
Jason

When my stacker refused to give up my CD's I googled the problem and one of the answers was to lightly tap the outside front of the unit with a blunt instrument (head of a screw driver etc.) which free's up the mechanism. It only needed two or three taps to release my CD's and I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.
Les.

I had the same issue with the original DVD player.
I removed the player and pulled it apart. There was some sticky residue on the disc where it centres on the centre rotating pin.
Cleaned it with metho and good as new.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I'll try the tapping on the unit with the end of a screwdriver first then try the bit of wire and if that fails I'll pull it out. I don't need to change CD's very often but sometimes I change between Bon Scott and Brian Johnson so I'll just keep the Iron Man 2 CD in to cover all bases
