Question Les Richmond Automotive Stage 2 Flare Kit Pictures

I just purchased a Les Richmond Automotive Stage 2 Flare Kit to fit to my D2a as I need to lower the vehicle by 1" to avoid a lot of additional expenses and hassles in having it engineered. Without cutting up the guards first, I can't lower it any further as the 33" tyres rub.

There's no fitting instructions, but pictures showing the measurements are available at Flares

What do you use to cut the pannels? Angle grinder?

Does anyone have any pictures of a D2 fitted with the flares that would be helpful as a reference for when I start cutting?

I found the following from Chris (CJT):

And the following on the LRA website:

    And Google Images:

    Flares on D2

    Hey mate.
I've got those flares on mine. The fronts were easy to do but the rears were a pain in the backside.

The photos on the page from Les Rich auto site were what he sent me when I did mine. As there were only photos of how to do the rear I just used this photo below to get the front done.

When you do start putting them on I'd recommend doing one side first then the other. so you can make them look the same.

As for cutting the guards I used a 1mm metal cutting disc on an angle grinder, it goes through them like a hot knife in butter. I think I only used about 2 discs.

Oh and be careful cutting, take less then you need to start, then fine tune it, especially on the rear. I'll try to get some photos up of mine if you want.

Good luck, hope this has helped.

    Cheers,
    Albert

    Flares

Before you get the LR ones, look at the pommy ones....prices aren't bad and they look smaller than the LR ones....means you don't have to cut as much metal away.
I'll find the link to the blue D2 on this forum with 33s and the pommy flares....looks very balanced I think....the LR ones are obviously made to go the max with 35s or more.

Ahhh, sorry just read that you've already bought them......maybe you could sell those and get these...

    Cheers

The UK ones don't deal the rear doors (or at least never did previously).

LR Auto ones are much stronger too...
They crack if hit really hard but repair easily.

Sorry Tombie...."deal" the rear doors? Is that meant to be seal...?

I haven't looked at either brand, but I like the idea of cutting less out....even if I have to get constructive to seal up the rear doors....the local ones just seem to be huge....as I guess they would be to cover bigger tyres like 35s.

    Cheers

I have previously considered the Flat Dog brand flares - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...50mm-75mm.html - after speaking to those who had owned/installed/used them I decided to go with the LRA product.

In my case the whole point of fitting them is to ensure that they cover my tires for roadworthy/engineering purposes and to remove at least an inch of metal from above the tyre to prevent any rubbing issues when I lower the vehicle an inch.

Good choice in the flares in my opinion anyway :-)
I used 1mm grinding discs to do mine, one thing though, make sure you cover your panels and windows. The metal sparks melt into the clear coat as well as the windows.

Let me know what photos your after. Also, I think I have a fair few photos on my build thread, just click the link in my sig line.

Cheers, it looks like your build thread contains a wealth of good ones for me to use as reference:
