Are you sure the Defender transfer case will not fit? I have a mate who put a Deefer tfr case into his D2 - straight swap, no drama's.

I run 265/75's (and have done for 11 years on a D2 and now D2a) and have not changed the gearing. Slight loss of power and harder on brakes but I like the lower cruising rpm's and lets face it, we do a lot of cruising in the vast country of ours.

That being said, I run two sets of tyres - one set with standard tyres.

I also plan to run two sets of tyres. I plan to also have my road set the same diameter as the off road ones.

I have D2 TD5 with a small lift and remap. After changing tyres from 235/70/R16 to 235/85/R16 it looks like some horses in engine has died. No problems on highways, but a bit hard on clutch when take off, and a bit too fast in low range in harder offroad. With auto-gearbox, it will be much less visible.
As I'm planing to fit air lockers, I'll also change the diff ratios from stock 3,54 to KAM 3,8 (or Ashcroft 3,75). Some gyus here has fited GBR 3,9, but all has developed a whine noise after some years of use.
