    Plip receiver wires location

My Plips don't work on my 2002 TD5Auto.
I bought a little tool that tells me that the plips themselves work and the codes are recorded on the BCU, but according to nanocom there is no signal at the BCU at all.
SO I have guessed that the plip receiver is stuffed.
The Plip receiver is in the worst possible place to replace , just in front of the rear sunroof position, so requires the complete removal of the headlining.
Temporarily I thought I would fit the one I bought anywhere in the headlining and it will work I am sure.
Does anyone know where the wires for the receiver enter the headlining? Is it the RH rear corner? There is a big earth point there and quite a large loom.
    Regards Philip A

The wiring goes up the Passenger side A pillar, above the passenger doors and across to the opposite side level with the backs of the second row seats.

There is no need to remove the entire headlining - I replaced the receiver in mine 2 weeks ago to fix an issue with the remote failing to respond after sitting overnight. I followed the Tech Bulletin instructions and it's not hard.

Nothing forward of the rear seats needs to be touched. You need to remove the trim above the rear door, the trims around the skylights, the cargo area interior light and possibly the rear passenger grab handles. You can then let the rear of the headlining droop down and you have reasonably good access to the receiver. I found that I could get best access from the passenger side as the receiver is offset to that side.

It shouldn't take you any more than an hour to do. LR's official billable time for the job is 30 minutes.

    cheers

    Thanks for that.
I had visions of pulling the entire headlining out . Even though it has to come out at some stage as it has arab tent disease. The remotes are a higher priority.
If it is so cheap I wonder why the original owner never had it fixed? The PO told me the plips had never worked for them and they owned it from 2006. Of course both plips had broken cases and one had a dud microswitch.

I hope there is not more to it as the active immobiliser is disarmed which I am not interested in arming anyway.

The TB should be on the RAVE CD, but I'll c'n'p* the rx change instructions for reference.

    1. Release taildoor upper trim finisher.
    2. Remove three Torx bolts securing rear headrest and remove headrest. Repeat for opposite side.
    3. Remove left hand and right hand ‘D’ post trim casings, refer to Workshop Manual repair number 76.13.73.
    4. Release rear interior light lens, remove two nuts to release light.
    5. Release two studs securing rear of headlining and carefully lower lining.
    6. Release alarm receiver from roof panel, disconnect multiplug and remove receiver.
    7. Connect multiplug to new receiver and secure to roof panel.
    8. Position rear of headlining and secure with studs.
    9. Position interior light and secure with nuts.
    10. Fit interior light lens.
    11. Fit left hand and right hand ‘D’ post trim casings, refer to Workshop Manual repair number 76.13.73.
    12. Fit Torx bolts to secure rear headrest and tighten to 25Nm. Repeat for opposite side.
    13. Fit taildoor upper trim finisher.
If you don't have a 7 seater you can obviously ignore the headrest steps.

    hope this helps

I recently had to replace my receiver, and you can do it without dropping the headlining at all

My DII is a 5-seater and it doesn't have rear AirCon, so no complications with rear headrests or piping.

I sat in the back seat and removed the rear sunroof edge trim.

I was then able to gently pull down the headlining from the roof, enough to squeeze my LARGE hands between the two and unplug the receiver.

I used a pair of side-cutters to lever-out the receiver's plastic mounting clips, these were undamaged by this and were able to be re-used with the new receiver.

The plastic clips were the trickiest part, but all in all, it took me about 10 or 15 minutes to do the change.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view I don't have a rear sunroof or front sunroof for that matter.
I do however have a DVD screen in that area.

No need to drop the headlining if you have a rear sun roof, which would make the job a whole lot easier.
I don't know if too many AU delivery D2's had the rear sunroof?

    Time allowance:
    0.10Hrs - Vehicles with sunroof
    0.60Hrs - Vehicles without sunroof
