I've been using Penrite ATF full synthetic for 2 years towing a 2.7 tonne van.
It runs 10-15 deg cooler as i installed temp guage after mineral ATF was turning black after 2-3000km. It is now good colour after 5-10000 km.
Nothing better.![]()
Is anyone using the Penrite ATF FS?
Penrite don't list as a recommendation for the D2 on their lube guide but it appears to meet all the right standards including the ZF TE-ML 11 and Dexron IIIH.
cheers

It was recommended to me by an automatic rebuilder. been using it for about year and a half in one of our D2's and totally agree with transtar .
Agreed, it's the replacement for their SIN ATF which was good.
Hi transtar
I'm about to start setting up my D2a to tow between 2 to 2.5 tonnes. Already planned to put in (expensive!!) Penrite fs but have you also had an aux transmission cooler fitted to get those temp reductions. Also planning a ecu remap and usual manifold upgrading for higher egt but assume this won't raise atf temps
Cheers
I am still running std trans oil cooler for 04 D2A but did remove and have cleaned thoroughly by radiator repairer and he found lot of muck from burnt oil we think. I fitted VDO temp guage to sump to monitor atf oil temp and find i have to back off on long climbs to keep temp under 100deg.Even with Penrite ATF FS
My td5 is chipped EGR removed & centre muffler removed
Cheers
