I have a TD5 auto with 2" lift, 245/75 mud tyres & a roofrack...
I have read threads on here with people getting 800-900km from a tank - I'm struggling to get 600. I wasn't too worried until last week, as most of my driving is city, mostly towing a trailer, but last week I ran a full tank mostly unladen.
2 trips from Campbelltown to Sydney airport return, 1 trip Campbelltown to Bowral, the rest running around town, no towing.
Overall 587km, 88L diesel = 15l/100km which to my mind is shocking, especially given I was getting 10l/100km from my 300tdi Defender which was never unloaded.
In answer to my title question - yes, something is wrong - I'm not that much of a leadfoot
I guess my real question is "what is wrong? Any ideas?"
TIA
Alex
roof rack adds about 1ltr extra to mine.
check the obvious things, air filter, maf, are your tyre pressures up?
Your odo is out 7% from tyres.
Bull bar is about a litre/100
Roof rack l/100
Low tyre pressure uses more
And as mentioned:
MAF
Air Filter
Fuel filter
Fuel reg pressure
Take the roof rack off when not in use it will make a big difference. I had a 300tdi Disco until a couple of weeks ago, with a full length empty roof rack on fuel economy was crap about 100 k's a tank less than without the rack.
check to see if you have oil in your computer as it effected mine , new harness has fixed that![]()
Hmmm....
Bar, 2" lift, 245/70s, run them at about 34-36
I normally get the light on around 700km day to day driving.
First half of the tank changes depending on how I drive, can get 500+km out of the first half if I'm driving long distances and not playing silly buggers.
Second half of the tank is pretty much 300-350km regardless.
Worst I ever got was 650, would have made it to 700 but I didn't want to push it.
Normally fill up as soon as the light comes on.
Yeah I'm in a similar situation. 2" lift, 245/75 Coopers, ARB bar and getting around 12-13l/100. I just remember if I had a v8 it'd be worse and just bear the running costs.
Mine varies considerably, bull bar, roof rack, snorkel, rear drawers loaded up averages around 13, been as low as 10.5 and as high as 15.
With camper on it usually sits on around 14, but depends where we are heading.
Highest I have seen is 25, all Lo range, 40+ degrees, AC cranking
So much depends on driving style and terrain.
Have just upsized to 245/75 so will be interesting to see if that makes any difference
If it feels right and shows no codes don't worry too much about it
