    2002 D2 TD5 coming up to 200K

    Hi guys,

Bessie will soon hit the 200K mark, and I was wondering what I should look out for at 200K

She has been serviced regularily by myself and the previous owner, and anything that needed fixing has been fixed.

Is it a case of continue as I have been with regular servicing, or are there items that ABSOLUTELY have to be checked/changed at 200K?

    Cheers

    Matt

keep up the regular servicing, have the oil pump bolt checked if haven't already, maybe a coolant flush depending when your last one and thermostat change.
mine is at 293,000km at the moment, going strong. (as he clings to the nearest wooden item).

Thanks for the info. The oil pump bolt was replaced by the Previous Owner (or so his Mechanic (now my Mechanic) has said.)

Not sure when the coolant was flushed last, so will add that to the list for the next service, and the Thermostat... well I have no idea if thats ever been changed, so will add that as well.

    Cheers

why not just do a full fluid change with thermostat, overflow cap, diffs, t/c and gearbox, grease the driveshafts and give everything a once over. when was the belt last replaced?

I will do all fluids, as suggested, and grease the driveshafts.

the belt.... well it hasnt been changed while on my watch, will have to talk to the mechanic to see if its ever been replaced.

    Cheers

Daisy ('04 TD5) hit the big 200K a few weeks ago. We have had her since '07 and about 40K km. I have changed engine oil and all filters every 10k, gear box oil, axle oil, coolant and brake fluid iaw the Haynes Manual. Apart from these 'consumables' she has also had the following:

New drive belt - service item.
Replace power steering pipe - rubbing on the chassis, spotted the drips and caught it before it popped - garage job
Clutch master cylinder - the ONLY time the car has been U/S.
    Brake pads - (twice)
    Brake rotors - (once)
Fuel pressure regulator - garage job
    Steering box
    Rear air suspension bags
Drag link (suspect that was a mis-diagnosed steering box).

We are still on the original shocks, UJs, bushes and clutch (though it's getting a bit rattly and there are interesting sounds coming from the gear box from time to time).

Oh, and the sunroofs leak but I can't face dropping the headlining just yet!

Keep up the regular servicing and all should be ok - you've still got plenty of miles left (still touching wood! )

If I recall there is a 200k service in the book? But I would do all fluids, belts, Check bearings in all the ancillaries such as idler, fan , power steer pump , alternator, air con, a failure in any of those will at the least cause some annoyance and are easy to check with the belt off. I found the idler bearing at 220ks was very rough with NO grease in it! Do all these little things and you have a good base to start the next 100+k's
    Cheers Scott
