Retro fit 2nd and 3rd row aircon ???

    Hi guys
Has anyone retro fitted aircon for te back of a disco?

I am thinking I would get the aircon pressure lines and rear aircon unit, roof control switch and ducting from a wreck and I would expect the wiring to already be there any other ideas?

I thought all 7 seaters had rear aircon but the one I am looking at has ace SLS and a rear step but on rear aircon. Was it an optional extra?

Yes, it was an option, about $4k if I recall correctly.

A couple of guys over here on the D2boysclub forum are in the middle of planning/collecting parts for a rear air con retrofit.

The wiring loom for the rear control will not be present on vehicle that did not have it from the factory as the body loom has a different part number. Well on UK cars it does!

Some are planning to refit the hole lot including the rear fan motor and heat exchanger while others are planning on extending ducting up behind the rear pillar trim to feed the extra air vents from the original system.

Is the Disco 2 rear air con a 12V powered compressor or does it run off the main a/c compressor unit.

    I'm pretty sure the D4 rear A/C is 12V.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    I'm pretty sure the D4 rear A/C is 12V.

It uses the same engine driven compressor as the standard system but has a feed and return pipe for the refrigerant plumbed in that runs to the back of the car to a separate heat exchanger unit and fan blower in the rear.

I got 4 kids Nicky and I live in port Macquarie so the aircon in the boot for the kids back there is one of the main reasons why I bought a D2
