    In-Cabin Fuse box removal and replacement

    Hi all;
    Haven't been on here in a while as my D2 seems to have been behaving recently. Recently however I believe I may have melted/burnt out etc. the back of the in-cabin fuse box. My symptoms are;

    1) No wipers (front or rear), no jets (only front; rear works), no headlamp jets. (Fuse ok) (not sure about relays)
    2) Cigarette lighter not working (Fuse ok)
    3) Radio only works if I manually turn it on. Normally it turns off when you turn the car off and turns on when you turn the car on; this doesn't happen. Also when it is off when driving it acts like the car is off (ie the red security coded light is blinking). (fuse ok)
    4) My DVD player is not working (fuse ok)
    5) Rear view mirror compass not working

    When I checked AUX(cig fuse) it was partially melted (still intact/not blown) and really stuck, had to use pliers to remove it.

    All other electronics seem to be working fine.

    When using nanocom to read inputs all of the above mentioned are not sending a signal and is registering no input.

    I've looked through RAVE and don't see anything on removal of fuse box.

    So if anyone has any advice, recommendations etc. it would be greatly appreciated.

    I am working on the assumption that it is melted as I have read previous posts about a multitude of electronic problems being associated with this. However I am not sure exactly what the process of removing and replacing entails. I have searched for posts about this but couldn't find much, so if there is please provide the link.

    Thanks in advance guys

    Pre-Service Update

    Decided not to brave it myself and bit the bullet and getting it looked at by Hunter Cuthill in Geelong West. By all reports they seem fair and knowledgeable. He definitely sounded like he knew what he was talking about and sounded reasonable. He said it does sound like an issue with the fuse box and/or the circuit inside it. New box is around 500 and 2nd half normally 1/2 that. Should take about 1 hour give or take so I will keep you all posted on the outcome and their service.

    Normally not the in-cab fuse box, but the one under the bonnet that gets hot & can crack the circuit board.

    Have seen a few do this.

    Cheers & hope all goes well.

    Thanks for the input.

    The bloke asked about that too but from the melted aux fuse in the fuse box it's not the engine one.

    It wasn't a long drive either, at night, pretty cold outside, and only about 1.5hours of driving.

    I think it may be due to a faulty accessory. Sadly the fuse melted and didn't blow. .

    I had similar problems to you, with multiple circuit failures. Check the auxiliary relay in the under bonnet fuse box. Swap it with one of the other identical relays in there to see if you can get it to work. New genuine relay $25.

    Hi matt
    Yeh tried that too. Sadly that didn't get it to work. All signs point to in cabin fuse box. I'm getting them to look at my CDL as well while its there.

    Hi guys.

    A forum member (modelsp) has very generously offered me his working interior fuse box from his 03 d2a (thanks heaps mate). Before I take it off his hands I just wanted to make 100% sure it is interchangeable with a d2 02 td5?

    I'm not sure if it helps but here's my VIN in case that's required: SALLTGM832A746708.

    Thanks in advance guys. It's going in for work tomorrow but I have a list of other things I want done too so if they do determine it to be the fuse box (which I'm almost certain of), I will hopefully be able to use modelsp's.

    Trevor.
