    Surging Revs at about 90 up steep hill

    This only happens on steep hills at about 90 and just below 3000 RPM. The revs seem to surge up and down - TD5/auto.

    I've recently put some (big) 245/75/16 on and the speedo is out by about 7% so was wondering if this was a result of that and if a speed corrector or remap would be my best bet (generally seems to hold gears a little longer now) or if it's a bigger problem to do with trans or torque convertor or something else?

    surging

    Turbo modulator valve? Check pipes for cracks etc. Not an expensive part to replace if that is the issue.

    Turbo modulator or one of the three hoses connected to it would be the first thing I'd check.

    Lucky I have a set of silicon hoses on order then Leaves only one thing if that's not it for first round of trouble shooting!

    BEFORE you go down the expensive path....... check/replace your MAF. About $250 and 2 minutes.

    By all means do the silicone hoses but mine had the surging problem and also a lack of power over 100knh. changed the MAF and it got better

    X2, hills, surging fits the symptoms of a dodgy turbo modulator.
    What sort of rev fluctuations?
    If it was the TC locking/unlocking you'd be getting considerable changes in the revs, 1000rpm sort of thing on hills I'd be expecting.

    Only a few hundred I'd say - it's fairly civilised.

    Yep, check the turbo modulator.

    Not the turbo hoses, the three small diameter hoses that connect to the modulator, from the metal pipe between turbo and intercooler, and from the modulator to the actuator can on the turbo.

    If these split you get the same symptoms as a failed modulator.
