A few things needed for roadworthy
I had the Disco inspected for roadworthy today. The main things needed are a tie rod end replaced, and the discs are all undersize and need replacing. Minor things are a horn button (new ones ordered just waiting for them to turn up in the post). and the front passenger outer door handle not easily opening the door.
Info on progress to this point here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members-ri...rs-disco2.html
My questions are:
- with the door locks, is it likely to be the adjustment of the outer door handle to the lock or just the whole lock mechanism playing up and in need of replacement? Inner door handle works great as does the central locking.
- Anyone know of a good place in Northern suburbs of Melbourne to get new discs?
Thanks All.

OK have been exploring for the door latch fix. I pulled off the door trim, disconnected the outer door handle control rod from the latch assembly and adjusted the plastic piece on the end of the control rod. Victory for the moment. See how long that lasts for, I will be chasing parts tomorrow so I guess that I will be checking if the plastic clip on the bottom of the outer door handle control rod is available. You would have to assume that the thread in there is a little stuffed and the rod had pulled through a little.
Created an slight new problem though, the interior lights are not coming on when you open the door now. Will have to investigate that next! Suggestions are welcome of course.

If you have had the door open for a while the interior lights may have timed out and will not come on again until you restart the car

Bernie,
I use British Car Components, in North Melbourne. I suggest calling to order as Graeme will probably have to get the parts in. I've found they have the parts by early afternoon the following day.
cheers

OffTrack thanks I got the other bits I have replaced from Graeme! So back there again. Close to work too so I have been able to zap out at lunch.

my drivers door latch was playing up after a recent outback trip, i gave it a very good flush with degreaser, then water and finally a good spray with silicon spray, all good now.

Thanks Yorkie,
I went in to British car components to see if they had a spare of the plastic clip that I adjusted to get the outer handle to work again and he didn't have it listed for D2 only for D2a. Not sure if there is any difference, I left it as one to chase up.
Did you just use a degreaser in a spray can?
