Wheel carrier or not on a rear bar

    What should I do?

My D2 rear bar is not longer saying attached. I want to go for a steel rear bar.

Should I get a rear bar with wheel and jerry can holder or just the rear bar.

    Big differences in price.

Have seen the Kaymar bar and spoken to people with them and they were not totally convinced they are the best.

Looking at the bar from APT Fabrications in Brisbane.

There are benefits of a wheel carrier as it takes the weight off the door and stops sagging on improves sealing.

Have a look at outcast offroad they are making mine for me and I will let you know how it goes in a few weeks. Total price of the bar including shipping to Sydney was $2000 and its duel wheel unlike the kamar bar which is one wheel plus jerrycan holder.

That price is ridiculous! You frequently see them for sale between $500 to $600.00!

I'm still trying to find a steel bar that retains the reverse sensors.

I made my own steel rear bar with cutouts to fit the original rear lights. Had I had a D2a with reverse sensors it would not have been hard to fit them also.

BTW I'm looking at modifying it to carry a jerrycan & spare wheel. My idea is carry the jerrycan close to the door & the wheel outside it so it overlaps with the door mounted spare so I can carry 2 without obscuring the lights & retain the original mount around town

Looks similar to mine, refer to bending metal thread.
The problem I see is they are not secured at the outside corners, hence mine getting caught and twisting the bar. Just because its steel don't make it strong.
    IMHO.

If I had need for a new rear bar (and approval from the wife for the purchase...) I'd happily have one of these on the rear of my D2. It appears to be well designed but I've not found any reports from owners of them yet.

APT prices are $660 without carriers. $2500 with jerry and wheel carrier.
