Hi Poonzo, welcome to the world of Disco's and the forum. Disco's turn drivers into mechanics - but I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hello everyone,
I have been following, reading and learning from this forum for some time now. It has been an excellent information tool pre purchase and as a new d2a owner. So thankyou for sharing your experiences and knowledge for all.
Iv bought a 2003 black d2a v8 with 140000 on the clock. Its in excellent condition and I love her to bits. She didn't come without her faults though. I have the intermittent 3 amigos and plan to do the option B fix once I build up a bit of confidence. My local mechanic changed the rocker cover gaskets and since then neither of my key fobs work. He has no idea why? I have searched this but Haven't yet tried any of the fixes (not sure how related). He has changed the coolant from pink to green and it was making the sloshing sound but he re-bled the system and now all it fine.
So that's basically where im at right now and look forward to asking plenty of landroverish questions (I will search first)

Welcome Poonzo, A great vechile even if they do demand attention! Do as she asks in the way of maintenance and she will reward you greatly! Hmm , That seems a bit like a wife!!
Cheers Scott
Really good 4wd, just don't try and tell a Landcruiser owner that.... but it has it's issues that you will have a love / hate relationship with. I've got a TD5, rather than a v8, but if you are close to Carindale, I can look at the famous 3.
Hi There,
I too have a V8 (Black ES) and really enjoy it, great car.
As you'll find out, constant attention and vigilance is the name of the game and my advice is watch your cooling system. Keep it in top notch condition and no short cuts.
The sloshing is common if the system has not been bleed properly, but sounds like that has been fixed.
As for the keys, something not reconnected? But again, get yourself a diagnostic tool. I have Hawkeye, a lot of guys on here have Nanocom. Well worth the $$$$! It maybe the key (no pun intended) to sorting out your remote issue.
Cheers, Jerry
Hi Poonzo,
I'm another one, just purchased my black 2003 D2 V8 about 6 weeks ago and love it to bits.
As the other guys have said, don't skimp on maintenance and it will reward you.
I just had my 3 amigos sorted, had to put a kit through the ABS modulator.
The only thing with Black.. Looks great when it's clean, but hard to keep it that way.
Cheers
Craig
P.S you will have to post some photos.
Hi Poonzo and welcome to the forum. I purchased mine about 14 months ago and I love it.(Td5 though)
My three amigos visited about six months later. I did option B and it was very easy. Have not had the trio since.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Hello again,
Thanks for the ideas and to you bsperka for the offer of help. Im a plumber so certainy not afraid of getting my hands dirtybut certanialy no brain surgeon either so its good to know if i run into trouble theres good people around. Well I disconnected the battery for about a minute and after reconnection the key fob works again. Crazy stuff but nothing to out of the ordinary for a landrover I'm assuming? Will be tackling option b Saturday week so the thinking Is that I'm going to replace the shuttle valve rubbers whilst I'm at it or at least have replacements at hand incase there is leakage. I will look into these Hawkeyes and Nanocoms this week and see what's been posted. I have a bit of a loose rattle in my steering and believe it to be the linkages to the steering box so will sort that out too.
Good on you guys and ill report back with how things go and how I fixed them.
Poonzo
Ps. There is a silvery d2a TD5 on the top of Dennis rd Springwood (just around the corner from my place) just wondering if the owners apart of the aulro. It's in smicko condition with all the fruit too.
