Thread: Plastic "cyclone" in Air filter housing TD5

I run a snorkel and have removed my cyclone thingy. I really had to once I'd seen it, it's just too much of an obstruction.

Took some getting out mind. Apparently it can be un-clipped from the pipe but I couldn't find a way to do that and ground / cut it out with a dremmel. There is quite a lot of material in the air box which, if I didn't have a snorkel, I would not have removed as there is good reason for it. With a snorkel I think a lot of it is superfluous. Have a look at the bottom of the air box before cutting away too much though. The shape of the molding makes it easy to compromise its integrity, be warned! From memory there was a little rectangular hole in the bottom of the box too - so I sealed that up with epoxy.

Since doing it my air filters are no more dirty than they ever were.

As far as performance goes - it can't hurt but I view it as one of many little incremental gains, I didn't think it made a huge change by it's self.
