The main connection for this lead is to the engine block. Make up another lead and run it between the two connecting points to replace the broken link.
While looking over things in the D2 I noticed this:
If you look carefully towards the centre of the image you can see there is nothing connecting the negative wire to the earth point on the body.
Now I'm completely clueless on this, but when I had a closer look it appears that the negative wire was connected to that screw.. or not. I really don't know.
So, should the negative be connected to the body and earthed here?

Yes it should be! The likely cause of it breaking away from the bolt is a battery has been installed that has terminals farther away than the lead can accommodate, there by stressing the point and leading to it breaking. A solution is a heavy gauge, not less than 8mm, length of electrical cable with a terminal each end to reattach the earth point.

X2. I would be inclined to run some black electrical tape around the exposed parts of the earth wire as well ,Bob
I would also spray some suitable spray over the connections that seem to have some oil residue on them, until they are clean. But I'm pedantic like that.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
I would take it back to battery world and demand the correct battery fitted.
