oil pressure after hard driving, v8
Hi, just after some advice again.
Yesterday, I was driving up in the sand dunes, after a few attemps at a very soft dune, my oil light came on, and stayed on. The water temp didn't seem to have rised at all.
I gave it time to call down, and had a look around, I guessing the pressure sensor is sitting under the intake manifold as I could not see it anywhere.
Oil level is good, oil seems pretty clean.
The moment I started it up and tried to drive it came on again, so again, gave it more time to cool, had 1 go at getting up dune and it came on again. Then more time to cool, after 30-45 min I took a reasonable easy drive back out to the road and its been fine since. close to a 2 hour drive home.
Today I will drop the oil and filter and put some thicker stuff in, 20-50. I don't know what oil was in it. I've looked at a few other threads and The oil cooler has been to blame, I don't believe this to be the problem, as it was only after putting the car under load for a period of time, my thought is, the hotter the oiler, the easier it will pass through a blocked cooler ( didn't even know I had one to be honest )
I will also check the crank pulley, but again, don't think it this, or i'd have the problem all the time.
Hopefully it not the engine on the way out, 210k on the clock. If it is, any advice or thoughts about a 4.6 going in its place, and cost or problems with doing it.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreiciated

The oil pressure switch should be down low near the oil filter. They sometimes fail in the manner you describe and also leak a lot of oil at the same time. Replace it with a new one before doing much else.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
I gave the car another run today, with the same thing happening, only after it was under load for a while though. The gearbox computer give up the ghost and got stuck in 3rd gear. It did get stuck in some pretty deap water though and flooded the inside.
Pretty bad weekend for damage and considering I got laid off from work on friday too.
