    Instrument Cluster D2 to D2A

    Hi all,
I have done a search but not really found an answer.
I find the D2A dash cluster to be far more asthetically pleasing than the D2.
Does anyone know if they are a straight swap?
I know the fuel flap sw has been moved but that's not such a big deal.

    Cheers
    Ralph

Is the mileage not stored in the instrument cluster?

The instruments themselves are a straight swap, you just need to get the mileage synced to the BCU.
Dealer can do it, or if you're handy with a nanocom or similar.

    Yes, I think.
Nanocom gives the option to sync BCU to Odo.
I am not sure which way this works. Name suggests that the BCU would be synched to the ODO but this seems funny. I'd think that synching the ODO to the BCU would be more common. Maybe it can be done both ways although I believe the ODO cannot be decremented, so maybe only option is to sync BCU to it?

Not a prob if the replacement cluster has lower km but that seems too easy?

    Cheers

You can sync either direction odo to BCU or BCU to odo, but you can only sync the numbers UP.

That switch is in the shroud that fits around the cluster, not in the actual cluster, so you are correct no big deal. If you use your ordinal shroud all of the switches will stay exactly the same.

Does anyone have a photo of the D2a cluster with the shroud? I know the gauges look different but I can't say I have noticed the shroud as different.

I'm pretty sure they are the same, except for different colors available.

unless the car yard uses Igor the Russian then they can go down.
Saw it on one of those current affair programs, Igor the digital speedo repair man, only charges a couple of hundred.
Our old falcon bought with 25 k on the speedo, would get to 38 k and go back to 25K, had it for years and eventually we got the speed up to 38K, after 8 years of ownership. I complained to the dealer and was told it was illegal to tamper, Der Fred and was told look at the resale value later with low kms
