Mine is TD5 auto - the speed now lines up with the GPS. The shifts occur around the same RPM (but I have chipped mine) so I shift around 85kmh now.

Do you mean the lock up happens about 85km/h? Can it be modified when lockup happens as part of a tune?

I am interested to get the recalibrator as with my 245/75/16 tyres, I'm doing 83 - 84km/h when the speedo reads 80km/h. As I drive a lot of 80km/h speed limit roads, I'm either travelling with the speedo reading 77 - 78km/h and the Auto not locked up or speeding just to get the Auto to lockup which currently happens right at 80km/h on the speedo (actually 83-83).

    Happy Days.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no without significant mods. The 4th lockup is hardwired into the system for a particular rev range.

The auto trans people in Melbourne have a system which in electronic autos allows you to over-ride and create a mauual gear approach ie it will stall if you leave it in gear and stop. The TD5 electronic auto is a goer with this system

and with a compushift ecu you can turn it into a "flappy paddle gearbox" but it starts to get very expensive.

I think so. Compushift is pretty common after market controller for gearboxes

I'm pretty happy with the way it works but I just like it locked up for better economy and at the 80km/h speed limit with bigger tyres than standard, I need to speed to get it to lock up.

    Happy Days.

Joel, sounds like you have the same set up as me - I was getting annoyed byt being out by about 5-6kmh at 80 - especially up hills.

I don't know about compushift but you can get a heavy duty lock-up which will change it but that's lots of work!

I think stall and lockup are 2 different things. The Automatic gear box has got to be the one thing in my vehicle I know the least about.

The gear box locks up electronically at 80km/h on the speedo. You can really feel it and see the revs drop. Apparently it will only do it in 3rd and 4th. I think a electronically controlled valve opens or closes and causes the oil to drain out of the torque converter or something.

    Happy Days.
