Driver's Side Water Noise
Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping for some trouble shooting pointers please. At low speeds I hear a rushing water noise from the driver's side. I have:
- Pressure Tested the Coolant System
- Checked the air con drains (XYZ side I have previously extended, the driver's side had no nipple and another pipe half squashing it, I have poked a coat hanger up and it appears not to be blocked It goes up about 50mm)
- no obvious wet patches on the carpet
Does anybody have any other suggestions as to what it may be please?

Hi,
I think it means you have air in the system and it'll need bleeding.

Sounds like air
Yeah sounds like air in heater lines
Will need to bleed
get car running using assistant hold acelerator down to approx 2000
put heater on to max heat this will ensure good flow pull rear of coolant tank out of clip then unhook front retainer and lift tank up as far as you can give hoses a good squeeze watch out for fan.
After a few mins you should feel a burp of air coming up from hose going into bulkhead.
That should be it open bleed screw in top hose to check there is no bubbles there fit coolant tank back in.
But where has air come from ?
Could be a leak in system or head gasket keep checking oil and coolant levels
at same temp first thing in morning before driving.

Maybe nothing to do with it but you're not mistaking the 'rushing water noise' for the noise from a failing double cardin joint on your front prop shaft are you? Maybe worth checking.

Big Chief running water
Of course you could just top up your coolant bottle . Fixes my water works every time without the need to fluff around.
I have a small leak/ weep on the rad. and a top up gets it going and removes the rushing water sound.
I now have an engine saver alarm which sounds off way before I get to the rushing water stage now. Regards Nick.

Mine had this for ages Jake (I was convinced the HG had let go for months!) it's air in the coolant system passing through the heater matrix you can hear.
I think it was the system sucking air in as it cooled down - the hose I replaced that seemed to stop most of it was the secret hose under the turbo and then (if you have removed the egr and egr cooler)the 16/10mm pipe joint that used to go to the EGR cooler ( I got a fitting made up at pirtek that joined the hoses together without any chance of a leak)
Other places to check for leaks are radiotor for pinholes (if yours is still original it may be on its way out) and the water pump (check under the pump braket and seeif anything coming out of the weephole)

I know some one with a Disco 1 that has sloshing water in the front doors every time it rains heavy, for some reason the rain water is getting in and not draining from the bottom of the doors drain holes, even for checking the holes for blockage, when door is closed it doesn't drain.

water noise
I would be strongly suspicious of pressure build up from a head gasket leak.
What happens if you remove the reservoir filler cap after a run?Does it want to overflow from the reservoir? Are your hoses unusualy hard?
gurgles behind the dash frequently point to pressure build up from a head gasket issue.

I have replaced the hoses and they are nice and soft. Think I might try a bleed and see if that makes a difference.

What's the level in the header tank like Jake? Mine never lost any when gurgling, if it's a head gasket then I'd expect a lot to be blown out of the overflow.
