I'm guessing this will be the D2a motor for Euro2 regulations or something, off the top of my head. Or where they've changed from plastic dowels in the head to steel dowels.
I've been told there are different td5 engines, the earlier and the later. Can anyone shed some light on what's different and if you can interchange them, say from a 2003 d2 to a 99 d2? Any help greatly appreciated![]()

10p are the pre-facelift engines. Euro 2 IIRC.
15p are the facelift ones. Euro 3. (I think).
A few subtle changes, 40Nm extra apparently.
They are not interchangeable.
10P was fitted to 1999-2001MY
15P was fitted to 2002-2004MY
The change over was not related to the D2a facelift.
Differences mainly relate to changed injectors and include but are not limited to:
- revised head casting
- higher pressure injectors
- altered rockers and timing gear
- water cooled EGR
- changed fuel pressure regulator design
There were also the following changes made to supporting components:
- changed radiator design
- altered cooling system layout
- different AAP pressure sensor - air cleaner box lid altered to accommodate changes
- altered engine harness
- different accelerator design
- reprogrammable ECU
- larger intercooler
Physically the engine will just bolt in as the block and mounts are the same. If you sourced a written off 2003 with a good engine and you didn't mind swapping engine plus radiator, intercooler, ECU, air box lid and AAP, accelerator and engine loom there isn't be any reason why you couldn't do it.
cheers

Thank you for you info, I'm about to change engine in my d2 and I wasn't clear on the differences, now I'm a bit more up with it
