    TD5 Oil leak

    Hi all.
Normally my Disco is clean as with regards to oil but i now have it dripping from the bell housing . I have followed the trail up to the driver side of the engine and there is a lot of oil under the starter motor . I cant pin point the leak yet so before i start pulling things apart i wanted to ask.
Is there a common leak in that area ?
    Thank you.

Do a search on google at the bottom of the page for FPR or Fuel pressure Regulator.

Is it oil or is it Diesel, if diesel as mentioned above it will be the fuel pressure reg, around just over $300 for the new one and fitting, we have replaced 3 now and hope no more. If it goes to long the fuel gets into the starter and stuffs it.

Cheers guys , but it is definitely oil. I replaced the FPR a while age . Yes the leak looks the same but a different substance. Any more ideas??

Rocker gasket. They leak at the rear if the gasket was not installed corectly or maybe tightened incorrectly. Check it with the acoustic cover off. The FPR can kark it after a short time too or a line is leaking.

If it is coming from the left hand side I might suggest the turbocharger oil return line.
It is under the turbo and goes down into the block. Held in place by 2 5mm hex bolts with a steel compression gasket. The gasket costs about $3-4 is all . The work takes about a fiddly half to one hour. A small amount of leak from this item seems to make a huge amount of mess. The fan and slipstream seemed to throw it all over the chassis. cross braces, bell housing etc.....changed the gasket...(I actually didnt have one there) and its all good, cleaned up dried up no more leaks underneath.

no mate its the other side coming from around same area as the fpr so really narrows the search a lot more than around the turbo

Also check the sump gasket or front cam shaft seal. My front cam shaft seal was leaking, it was running down then the fan was blowing it back towards the sump/bell housing.
