Thread: Range selection difficulty

Hi all how are we
I have a 03 td5 auto 208000kms.
Great car so glad have another disco!

But recently having some trouble when changing from high to low range. It doesn't engage and sometimes slips out but once in is fine. The car hasn't seen much offroad at all as previous owners just used it for school runs ect. All service history upto date and no dramas logged.

Just curious as what I should look into or if this is start of gearbox drama or just cause wasn't used offroad its just "stiff"

quite possible it has been like that from new if the previous op never used it! It could be in need of adjustment, I think they have adjustment. Your best plan is get under and try moving it about by hand, see if it is sloppy or tight. Compare 'engaged' movement with 'disengaged'
